lawyer, diplomat: born 18tth April 1940, Częstochowa: married (Ewa Chmiel), father of two (Marta, 1977, Mateusz 1984); education: Warsaw University, Law Department LLB, LLM 1963, Trainee judge 1964-66. PhD 1980.

Law Department at Warsaw University- lecturer 1966-90; an expert on the Human Rights Committee of Senate (1989-91); consul general of the Republic of Poland in London (1991-1995); Law Department at Warsaw University - lecturer 1997; legal adviser to the General Attorney (Professional Responsibility) General Medical Chamber (1998-1999); member of the Prime Minister Committee for evaluation of setting up civil service in Poland 1998; member of the advisory team on the amendments to the Polish penal code set up by the Minister of Justice. (2000-2001), president "Ius et Lex" Faundation and editor in chief "Ius et lex" Journal 2001-.
