The seminar

 

The initiative to establish the ‘Ius et Lex’ seminar was put forward by Jarosław Gowin – Rector of Tischner European University, Antoni Kamiński – Professor of the Institute of Political Studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences, member of the Council of the „Ius et Lex” Foundation and Andrzej Sadowski – Vice-President of the Adam Smith Research Center.

The inauguration of its activities took place on March 29th, 2003 at a meeting at the Warsaw University Faculty of Law and Administration. The initiative was joined by a few dozen people representing different circles, scientific institutions and citizen organizations. The purpose of the seminar is to analyze the condition of the state and to prepare suggestions for its reform in a number of important areas. The activities of the seminar are financially supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation

 

The following problem groups were established:

1. on the political system of the state and the electoral system

2. on the economic, finance and tax system of the state

3. on justice and legislation

4. on education

5. on the mass media

6. on social analyses

 

Each Seminar meeting is devoted to specific issues prepared by the Seminar members and guests. For a list of delivered papers see below. Seminar members receive necessary materials, documents, press articles and information via the e-mail discussion list. Within the next few months, the problem groups intend to put forward proposals for the reform of the state in the first three subject groups.
