Statement concerning Ius et Lex participation in the April 10th Movement “Ruch 10 Kwietnia”.

The Smolensk disaster that occurred on April 10th 2010 was a major tragedy for our national community. This tragedy also touched directly the Ius et Lex Foundation – killing her founder and former Ius et Lex President Janusz Kochanowski, and Foundation Council member, Ryszard Kaczorowski, the last President of the Republic of Poland in exile.

The Foundation's interest in the investigation proceedings (as well as in its legal basis) of the disaster is obvious, is not only due to the death of members of the Foundation, but is based on the Foundation’s statutory grounds. One of the aims of the Foundation is to "to implement principles of law" (§ 5.A , of the Foundation’s statute). Investigation proceedings of the Smolensk plane crash should be transparent and is a test for public authorities implementing constitutional requirements of law.

The Foundation has long been a pioneer in the development of polish law. In this particular case, the Ius et Lex Foundation has decided to cooperate with specialists and organizations from around the world to provide transparent proceedings.
